Profitability:
Own consumption applications, especially if enhanced with electricity storage system, are economically usable in only a few markets up to now. The most important factor for a respective feasability study is the general electricity price which the comsumer (no matter if private of commercial) has to pay to his utility. Other minor factors are possible additional fees or taxation regulations. Also “smart” payment schemes, as special peak time rates are to be considered.
In general you can start to think about such a storage unit if the average price of a standard kilowatthour has got a level of more than 0,20 Euro.
But in the oncoming months and years we expect falling storage system prices due to rising production figures. Also the developing research in the field of E-Mobility will give a tremendous push, both to technical and price evolution.
In any way, profitability of electrical storage systems are not that easily calculated as the feasability of a grid connected PV system. The appearing load curve depending on the individual consumption behaviour has to be checked and analysed carefully.
